Judge family – Gowrie Junction, Subtropical Dairy Region

Judge family

Paul and Jo Judge currently lease a farm at Gowrie Junction near Toowoomba and are looking at ways to generate wealth to progress their dairy career pathway.

In June 2017 they completed the original three-year term of a lease and have now taken up an option for another five years.  They have recently paid back the debt borrowed to purchase the start-up herd however their work/life balance has been affected during this period with no extra labour being employed other than the occasional relief milker.  The business is now starting to suffer because of the current setup so Paul and Jo are looking at ways they can make increases in their production to enable cash flow to employ labour.

Their vision is to have a profitable dairy business into the future that they are proud of and where they can generate enough wealth to eventually own their own land or expand with other lease options.
